A black and white photo of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. passionately speaking into microphones, with one arm extended and finger pointing. Text overlays include 'Katori Hall' and 'The Mountaintop' on an orange-toned background, with a blurred building in the background.

The play explores the final night of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.'s life, specifically the evening before his assassination on April 3, 1968. King, after delivering his famous "I've Been to the Mountaintop" speech, is visited in his room by a mysterious maid, Camae, who challenges him to confront his mortality and legacy. Through their conversations, King grapples with the weight of his role as a leader and the looming threat of death.

the god barber of 49th street

A blood-stained barber chair with blood dripping from a pair of scissors hanging above it, set against a black background with the title 'The God of 49th Street' and credits for writer Jamaal McCray and director Brittany Preston in red text.

October 6th 7:00pm-8:00pm

This tale about Rae and Shel. Rae is existing in peace, singing tone deaf showtunes, and cleaning his sharp barber tools for his next client. Shel, the “walk-in” from the heart of Krakatoa. Shel is a walking, talking, fighting, loving force of nature and she is suddenly leaving the low skies of Indianapolis for good.

This comedic, romantic, and action packed one act has sharp gritty characters and explosive dialogue that will stick like shrapnel in the knee. Feelings that will never fade, imagination that can’t be tamed or tapered, and good tunes. Mythical barber shop talk that you’ve never heard or will ever see.”

40 acres & bottomless mimosas

Poster for a theatrical production titled '40 Acres & Bottomless Mimosas' by Indianapolis Black Theater Company, featuring a background with rainbow colors, a glass of mimosa with lemon and LGBTQ+ pride flag, and rainbow stripes.

October 27th 7:00pm-8:00pm

“40 Acres & Bottomless Mimosas" is the brunch from hell—where the mimosas are bottomless, but the trauma’s on autopay. Dante signs up for ‘reparations’ and finds himself the star of a grotesque game show where Black queer pain goes platinum. Spoiler: the only thing getting uplifted is corporate profits. Cha-ching.”
